Bay of Pigs Air Memorial
A B-26 bomber and a granite pillar at Miami Executive Airport, raised over four decades by one man for the fourteen airmen of Brigade 2506 who did not come back.
At the edge of Miami Executive Airport stand a B-26 bomber in Cuban Air Force markings and a granite pillar angled toward Cuba. The memorial honours the ten Cuban and four American airmen of Brigade 2506's Liberation Air Force killed over Bahía de Cochinos in April 1961. It exists because of Captain Amado Cantillo, a veteran of the invasion who spent close to forty years finding the aircraft, securing the ground and raising the money.
